Ernest Cantu has lived in the 900 block of Aganier Avenue in north San Antonio for 13 years.
Around 6:30 Tuesday morning he was driving to work.
At the intersection of West Agarita and Aganier Avenue he says a woman with a gun ran into the middle of the street. Cantu said he put his grey SUV in reverse and started driving home. He says the woman hopped into a white car and sped after him.
Back at home, his mother confronted the woman who said she was an off-duty Somerset police officer.
San Antonio police arrived and determined the off-duty officer had just been the victim of a crime. The off-duty officer says someone broke into her vehicle and stole her GPS system. She thought the grey SUV Cantu was in was the same suspect vehicle that had just left her home.

It turns out the off-duty Somerset police officer is a Cathryn Villarreal, who's been
on the department for 7 long months. According to the Somerset Police Chief Martin Chavez, Officer Villarreal is a good officer but refused to comment on the incident that occurred in the city of San Antonio. Chief Chavez will leave it in the hands of the San Antonio Police Department as should have Officer Cathryn Villarreal before overstepping her authority in someone elses jurisdiction.
According to the complainants and witnesses, Somerset Officer Cathryn Villarreal lost control of the situation, scared and posed a threat to some of the citizens of San Antonio whom she assumed were involved in a personal theft. Officer Villarreal is a ticking time bomb and she used poor judgement. If this incident is any example of her police training, the Somerset Texas Police Department are in for a bumpy ride. How Officer Villarreal passed the psychological in applicant processing is beyond me and would have me questioning Somerset Texas and its police hiring process.
Contacted the sheriff today to set up a time to come in and file a
complaint. The sheriff handled it as a joke and told us not to waste our
time on it. He also said she no longer works at the department, that she
quit and moved to Houston 'cause she got a job at NASA.....
NASA huh. Scary isn't it.....perhaps NASA should be made aware of the poor
judgement of its new employee. If the Somerset Police Department shirks
off your complaint as a joke, perhaps you should take it up with those that
police the police.....Texas Rangers...FBI. Maybe they should take a good
look at Somerset departmental policies. Just a suggestion.
