About Me

It's all about finding strength from within. It's about learning from the past, persevering in the present and having the ganas, or desire, to flourish in the future. I'm an American, but I'm also Indigenous, Mexican, French and German and that's a wonderful thing. One can't be anything if one doesnt know who they are. For centuries people have been trying to break through barriers and I've gone and continue to go through them as if they dont exist.

AARP Officially Gives House Democratic Health Care Bill A Major Boost.

posted Thursday, 5 November 2009

The Chicken Littles of the Republican Party are not indicative of what intelligent educated and wise senior citizens want. My mom supports healthcare reform. She and many other senior citizens remember the good old days when people had to pay for their own healthcare and saw friends and family that couldn't afford it and take the chance of not seeing a doctor when sick much less go to the hospital.

Can the Republicans delay true Healthcare Reform until even mid-term elections, I doubt it. They have no real plan other than shifting their "scare them to death plan" in full gear by spreading confusion and misinformation. Isn't that sad? What is sadder is that some Americans still swallow the falsehoods and others that gain financially encourage, invite and then are fine with these Republican tactics. We should be reminded that many other "poorer" countries have affordable systems and the US is a complete mess and judging by Republican actions, it's the way the party of lies and distortion would like to keep it.

To all you AARP card ripping critics...
You are sending a negative and selfish message to this county by going against those working to ensure that all senior citizens and all people of this nation have healthcare. That they have the freedom to choose the doctors and specialists they need, that seniors are protected and get all the benefits they have earned. The elderly get medicare, veterens get the VA (good or bad) children get SCHIP. If these government programs did not exist where would some of you be? Would some of you still be holding on to your "I have it, but you can't" mentality? Please, people learn the facts and then engage the conversation with options that are valid and not emotional.

Lobby group AARP endorses US House healthcare bill
Thu Nov 5, 2009 11:38am EST

WASHINGTON, Nov 5 (Reuters) - AARP, the powerful lobbying group for older Americans, endorsed the U.S. House of Representatives healthcare reform bill on Thursday, bolstering support for the measure as it heads toward a close floor vote on Saturday.

The group said the bill would help older Americans pay for their prescription drug coverage and strengthen Medicare, the government-run health program for the elderly.

"We can say with confidence that it meets our priorities for protecting Medicare, providing more affordable health insurance for 50 to 64-year-olds, and reforming the healthcare system," said Nancy LeaMond, executive vice president of the group.
